    Abstract: 台灣偏鄉社區的大型圖書館距離平均約有二十公里以上,這種閱讀環境設備下的孩子,與全世界測驗結果成就的差距有多遠值淂教育界予以關注,本研究以台灣偏遠地區國民小學階段四年級學生為對象,以國際PIRLS閱讀測驗題目和問卷為藍本,探討偏鄉兒童面對教育資源及文化刺激缺少,相對於閱讀課外讀物習慣的養成、閱讀環境的形塑和閱讀學習的成就之間的相關性。獲得以下結論:
    一、四所學校之學生閱讀學習資源以來自學校為主,學生閱讀以學校提供及教師指導為大部分,漫畫、雜誌和報紙的閱讀率低,學生放學後在家看電視或玩電腦的時間集中在一到三小
