Abstract:	位處熱帶地區的傳統住居設計，一般的概念都會聯想到風土建築的型式，而近年來受到廣泛討論之永續發展的各項議題當中，地域性的風土表現在對應於建築節約能源的功能上，更是佔據著重要的指標項目。另一方面，地域風格的表現又蘊含著各式各樣的文化融合，如果某地區的文化來源是多元的，彼此兼容而不起衝突，這個現象對於從事建築設計的工作，將會是有趣的方向與挑戰。本文以位處熱帶地區的馬來半島，在過去半個世紀中的現代建築經驗為例，嘗試從空間之演化與系統分析、及組合等整體思維，廣泛思考永續發展與風土建築的組合，及其所能形成的文化特色 Conceptually, vernacular houses have been dominated by the building materials, climate and culture of the region for a poor built environment.
